Third highest national flag unfurled in Guwahati | 10 facts about it

New Delhi:

On the occasion of ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, Assam on Tuesday unfurled India’s third highest national flag. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal dedicated the flag to the people at a function held at Gandhi Mandap in Guwahati.

Here are the 5 facts about India’s third highest national flag:

1. Considering only the height of the flagpole, it is the third-largest flag of India.

2. The total height of the flagpole is 319.5 feet, which is the highest in the country in terms of the average elevation of the city.

3. The project of installation of the national flag was completed by Guwahati Smart City Limited.

4. The total project cost is Rs 2.92 crore which includes operations and maintenance for a period of one year.

5. The project of installation of the national flag was conceived with a view to create a place of pride and honour to the supreme sacrifices made by the citizens led by Mahatma Gandhi during the freedom movement.

Second highest national flag

The second highest national flag is installed at Pimpri Chinchwad Bhakti Shakti Chawk in Pune. The height of the flag is 351 feet, nearly 31.5 feet taller than the newly installed flag in Guwahati.

Highest national flag

India highest national flag is mounted atop the 360 feet pole with dimensions of 120×80 feet. Country’s largest tricolour on the tallest flagpole is located at the Indo Pak Attari Border in Amritsar.
