Thunderstorm warning LIVE Updates: IMD predicts hailstorm, squall in Northeastern states Today

India Meteorological Department (IMD) hinted that the severe weather condition over northern India were moving towards the Northeastern states. The Met department warned that a thunderstorm accompanied by squall and heavy to moderate rains would hit parts of eastern India on Wednesday.

In fresh warning, the IMD said that a thunderstorm with gusty winds was “very likely” to hit the parts of east Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh.

“A similar weather pattern is likely to be witnessed in West Bengal, and in six of the seven northeastern states except Mizoram,” the Met department said.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also predicted thunderstorm and squall in 12 states. Teams of the NDMA were put on alert in wake of the thunderstorm warning.

# 10:45 AM: Do's and Don'ts during disaster: 1. Stay away from storm-damaged areas; 2. Listen to local radio/TV stations for updated information or instructions on weather and traffic updates; 3. Help children, women, elderly and differently-abled; 4. Stay away from fallen trees/power line and report them to nearest tehsil/district headquarts immediately.

# 10:35 AM: Pre-Disaster Preparation Guidelines: 1. Prepare an emergency kit with essential items for safety and survival; 2. Secure your house, carry out repairs, don't leave sharp objects loose; 3. Secure outside objects that could blow away and cause damage; 4. Remove rotting trees/broken branches that could fall and cause injury or damage; 5. Listen to radio, read news papers and watch News Nation for latest updates and warnings. 

# 10: 30 AM: South India to also witness the freak weather phenomenon: South-interior Karnataka, north-coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema region of the state, Tamil Nadu and Kerala will also witness the thunderstorm, said the IMD. 

# 10: 15 AM: More rains in higher regions: The IMD has predicted more rain, dust storm, hail storm in Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Wednesday.
