New Delhi:

A thunderstorm, accompanied by heavy rains and moderate squall is likely to hit several states across north India on Tuesday, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD on Monday issued a warning and said that “Under the influence of a western disturbance, a cyclonic circulation over Haryana and a west-east tough from northwest Rajasthan to central Madhya Pradesh in lower levels” would bring thunderstorm along with heavy to moderate rain.

Early on Monday night, a dust storm, with a wind speed of 70 kilometres per hour, hit the national capital followed by a squall, bringing down the temperature after a hot day.

All evening schools in Delhi will remain closed on Tuesday and search and rescue teams were put on standby in the wake of the meteorological (MeT) department’s warning of thunderstorm.

The thunderstorm warning comes a week after a powerful dust storm hit Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, killing as many as 124 people and injured over 300.
