1. Monsoon session ends: High productivity, GST, Kashmir become highlights
Passage of the long-pending GST bill and a unanimous resolution on Kashmir were the highlights of the ‘highly productive’ Monsoon session of Parliament which was adjourned sine die today after 20 sittings. Hailing the session as “highly productive”, Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari said the House debated issues of “national concern”, including the situations arising out of inflation, Kashmir violence and attacks on Dalits.
2. Lok Sabha adopts resolution to ‘restore confidence of Kashmir youth’
Lok Sabha today passed a resolution to serious concern over prolonged curfew, violence and loss of lives in Kashmir Valley, ahead of all party meet on the issue. The Kashmir unrest today entered day 35 and has claimed 56 lives while leaving over 6000 injured including several para-military and police personnel. According to reports, the lower house passed the resolution “to restore confidence of Kashmir youth”.
3. Shah Rukh's detention at US airport: American diplomats say 'Sorry', SRK says 'Thank You'
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh today replied to the apologies of US diplomats on his detention incident in a gracious manner. The actor was again detained at a US airport for questioning by the immigration department on Thursday evening. “No hassle ma’m.Respect the protocol,not expecting to b above it. Appreciate ur graciousness, its just inconvenient,” Shah Rukh tweeted, in response to Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia in the US Department of State Nisha Desai Biswal apology for "hassle" Khan faced at the airport.
4. Police appeals to Imams for peace in Kashmir, advises against provocative speeches during prayers
Jammu and Kashmir Police has made an appeal to the Imams not to make “provocative speeches” during Friday prayers so that the people with vested interest do not exploit the situation. “The Imams and Khateebs are requested not to deliver provocative speeches so that the situation is not exploited by vested interests,” a police spokesman said on Thursday.

As a biopic based on the life of Mahendra Singh Dhoni is set to hit the big screen, the Cricketer says he wanted his movie not to be glamorous and heroic. “I did not want them (makers) to make me a hero or glamorise me, but rather show the journey, the struggle. I have played football, had been in Railways before I started playing cricket. I wanted them to show what pushed me...the journey, how I did and what happened is what I wanted to be the focus point,” Dhoni told reporters here at the trailer launch of ‘M S Dhoni: The Untold Story’.
