A crack was noticed on the railway track between Adina and Eklakhi stations Saturday morning leading to the halting of train services for 90 minutes.

Railway personnel engaged in checking the track noticed the crack at 7.30 am and informed the authorities.

A Kamakhya-Sealdah summer special train had arrived at Malda Town Railway Station at that time and was positioned on the same track.

The train had to be halted at the station for 90 minutes.

Inspector-in-charge of Malda Town Railway Station K G Dutta said, it was not a case of sabotage.

The railway track was "slightly displaced" as a result of the crack and was repaired within an hour following which train movement resumed at 9 am, he said.

Adina and Eklakhi stations, located in Malda district of West Bengal, fall under Northeast Frontier Railway zone.
