The ‘breach’ in the security of Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took new twist on Tuesday with latest media reports claiming that the ‘trespassers’ turned out to be the Congress workers from party’s Meerut unit. According to Times Now, one Chander Shekhar Tyagi identified himself as the Congress worker. He claimed that he knew Priyanka for a long time and his family had come to Delhi to meet the party leader. Tyagi claimed that his mother had gone to Delhi to meet Priyanka. On November 25, the day of the ‘breach’ happened, Tyagi said that his mother’s SUV was not stopped by any security personnel so there was no question of unauthorised entry. Tyagi claimed that his mother saw Priyanka in the garden. She got down from her car and met Priyanka. Tyagi also claimed that his sister and her son took group photos with daughter of Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi.

"A security breach occurred at the residence of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a week ago after unknown persons entered her residence, without prior appointment asking for selfies. A complaint was filed with CRPF, investigation is underway," news agency ANI had reported on Monday.

The incident came days after the Narendra Modi government removed the SPG security cover of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her children Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi. The Congress party objected the government's move terming it as 'vindictive' approach.

The Modi government, however, defended its decision and said that the security of Gandhi family was not withdrawn but only replaced to 'Z-plus' with ambulance. "Impression is being created that the SPG Act is amended to withdrew security from the Gandhi family. Security of the Gandhi family has not been withdrawn but changed to 'Z-plus' with advance security liaison and ambulance that will be given across the country," Home Minister Amit Shah had told Parliament.

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, Priyanka’s husband Robert Vadra highlighted the issue of women security. "Its not about the security for Priyanka, my daughter and son or me or the Gandhi family… It's about keeping our citizens especially the women of our country, safe & secure. Security throughout the country is compromised... Girls are being molested/raped, What society are we creating...? Security of every citizen is the Government’s responsibility. If we are not safe in our own country, our homes, not safe on roads, not safe in the day or at night, where and when are we safe?” Vadra said in a Facebook post.
