Actor-turned-politicians Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan, who were among the prominent candidates to win the Lok Sabha polls for the first time in 2019, on Monday faced vicious trolling on social media after they posed for photographs in front of the Parliament building of India. Twitterati vent ire over their choice of clothing as they took to their respective Instagram handles, sharing pictures from their first day at Parliament.
Taking to photo-blogging site Instagram, Chakraborty wrote, "Remember your dreams and fight for them 🙠#gratitude #Obliged", while posting a photograph of herself donning a white t-shirt along with a blue denim jeans.

Minutes after, Chakraborty shared another photograph on Twitter tagging Jahan, where the young parliamentarians can be seen displaying their identity cards as MPs at the Parliament premises. "And it's us again. First day at Parliament Nusrat Jahan," the tweet read.

Nusrat captioned her picture as, "A new beginning...!! I thank @mamataofficial and people of my Basirhat constituency to have belief in me", following which she also faced similar wrath for breaking the preconceived notion of how female parliamentarian should dress up.

While one of the Twitterati ridiculed the actresses for turning Parliament premises to their film sets, another asked if they have gone there to do this drama. "This is not a place for photoshoot. This is a place where you should fight for the people's rights and legislate for the country. You don't belong here," one user wrote in Bengali.
However, some section of the social media also came out in their support and was of the opinion that there is nothing bad in taking photographs outside Parliament and that the duo is being trolled for no reason.
Former Congress leader and newly-elected Shiv Sena member Priyanka Chaturvedi also congratuled the new MPs, adding that she loved what both of them were wearing "in tune with the changing times".
"Dear @mimichakraborty and @nusratchirps , firstly many congratulations for your debut in the parliament and secondly I loved what you both are wearing, in tune with the changing times," Chaturvedi tweeted.
