Two aides of Lalu Yadav arrested for serving him in jail

Two aides of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav had been arrested and lodged in Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Jail after they surrendered in a false case of corruption, police said on Tuesday.

According to sources, the two plotted a false case to ‘land in trouble’ and get themselves lodged in the jail to serve their boss, Lalu Yadav, who was given a sentence of 3.5 year to serve in the Fodder Scam case.

The two had been named as Madan Yadav, an entrepreneur who owns two cowsheds, a big house and a high-end SUV, and Laxman Singh, residents of Ranchi who had planned of creating a fake snatching scene to get into the jail.

The Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD), after many contemplations, admitted that both Madan and Laxman were their party workers. RJD spokesperson, Shakti Singh Yadav, said, “Police should probe how the two got jailed. Laluji never asked anyone to go to jail.”

The FIR was lodged on December 23 by Sumit Yadav, Ranchi resident, against Madan, who, he alleged, snatched Rs 10,000 from him, the same day Lalu was convicted in the Fodder Scam case by a special CBI court.

Madan was put in jail on the basis of the FIR by Sumit Yadav. Both Madan and Laxman appeared before the CJM’s court and were sent to Birsa Munda jail the same day.

Manoj Kumar, a tea-seller who knows Madan, said, “Madan is well connected with sound financial background. He has no reason to snatch or steal.” He added that Madan must have done this to serve the RJD leader in the jail.

Madan served as Lalu’s retainer and Laxman had been Lalu’s cook in the past.

SSP Kuldeep Dwivedi, on Tuesday said, “We weren't aware that the two surrendered before the court and were sent to jail. The usual practice is that lawyers concerned ask for documentary evidence, police station diary and the FIR, before taking a decision in such matters. However, in this case none of these norms was followed.”
