An under-construction building collapsed in New Delhi while another collapsed about 35 km from Coimbatore on Friday, killing one worker and injuring 14 others.

The incident in Delhi took place at Krishna Menon Marg near Vayu Sena Bhawan, a Delhi Fire Service official said.

The police said a call was received at 5.24 pm about the collapse of the building in Delhi and five fire-tenders were rushed to the spot. No one was trapped under the debris, they added.

In Coimbatore, a teenage construction worker was killed and 14 others were injured when the roof of an under-construction three-storeyed building collapsed, a police official said.

The deceased has been identified as Kannan, hailing from Odisha.

The building to accommodate a school, collapsed suddenly and 15 workers were caught under the debris. Fire and rescue personnel and police managed to pull out 15 workers. A search is on to find whether any more workers were trapped under the debris.

Kannan died on the way to the Pollachi government hospital where nine of the injured have been admitted, the police added.
