Anil Madhav Dave, Union environment minister, dies of cardiac arrest; 'personal loss', tweets PM Narendra Modi

Union environment minister Anil Madhav Dave, who was a member of the Rajya Sabha since 2009, passed away on Thursday. He was 60. Last year, Dave has took oath as a minister with independent charge of environment, forest and climate change.

Union environment minister Anil Madhav Dave, who was a member of the Rajya Sabha since 2009, passed away on Thursday. He was 60. 

Last year, Dave has took oath as a minister with independent charge of environment, forest and climate change. Born in Barnagar in Madhya Pradesh, Dave was unmarried.

“Anil Madhav Dave ji will be remembered as a devoted public servant. He was tremendously passionate towards conserving the environment,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.

“I was with Anil Madhav Dave ji till late last evening, discussing key policy issues. This demise is a personal loss.”

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani expressed sorrow and grief on sudden demise of Dave. Condoling his death, he said Dave will be remembered for ever for the services he rendered as an RSS leader. 

MP CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, "We will observe two-day state mourning announced on passing away of Union Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave."

Jitender Singh, MoS PMO said, "It was a cardiac arrest, we lost a popular colleague, his loss will be felt for a long time to come."

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also expressed shocked and said he was saddened by the demise of Dave.
