Union Ministers To Visit J-K From Today To Spread 'Message Of Development'

A group of 35 Union Minister will start their seven-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir today. The ministers will visit different districts of newly-formed the Union Territory to spread words about government policies, particularly those taken after the abrogation of Article 370. According to sources, there will be eight visits to Srinagar and 51 to Jammu. Union Minister Ashwini Choubey is expected to visit Samba, Arjun Ram Meghwal to visit Samba's Puramandal area, while MoS for Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh will visit the Jammu region.

Sources said that Railway Minister Piyush Goyal will visit Jammu's Akhnoor region while his cabinet colleague will be in Katra and Panthal areas in the Reasi district. Similarly, Mahendra Nath Pandey will be in Jammu’s Dansal and V Muraleedharan in Kathua’s Bilwar.

Whereas Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy will be in Ganderbal on January 22 and Manigam on January 23, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will visit Sopore in Baramulla district on January 24.

General (retired) VK Singh is scheduled to visit Tikri in Udhampur on January 20 while Kiren Rijiju will go to Suchetgarh in Jammu on January 21.

Besides them, Union ministers Giriraj Singh, Anurag Thakur, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Pralhad Joshi, and Jitendra Singh are among other ministers who will visit different districts during the period.

Spread the message of development PM tells union ministers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday told the group of union ministers visiting Jammu and Kashmir to spread the message of development among the people not only in the urban areas but also in the villages of the Valley, sources said.       

At a meeting of the Council of Ministers in New Delhi, the prime minister asked the ministers to spread the message of development during their interaction with the locals, the sources said.

He said the ministers should not restrict themselves to the urban areas but meet people in villages also to inform about the developmental work carried out by the central government in Jammu and Kashmir.
