Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday have initiated a probe against a WhatsApp group created in the name of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) IG Asim Arun confirmed the development. “The probe was initiated after a 20-year-old man received an invitation link to the WhatsApp group.”
The ATS in its initial stage of investigation has learnt that the links were posted by a 15-year-old boy staying in Rajasthan’s Bhilwada.
“The class 9 students received the link from another teenager of the state. We are in contact with the parents of the duo,” said the IG.

An FIR has been filed at Hazratganj police station under relevant IPC sections including 153-A against unidentified persons for promoting enmity between different groups in name of religion and section 66-F of the IT Act for circulating objectionable content of messaging app.
A senior IPS officer said, “We are also trying to identify the members of the group to learn if they have been radicalised by any terror out or Pakistani intelligence agencies.”
