UP Budget 2020: Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government presented the fourth budget for Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. In the biggest-ever state budget, UP’s Finance Minister Suresh Khanna promised $1-trillion economy for Uttar Pradesh. At Rs 5.12 lakh crore, the UP Budget is the largest budget in the state’s history. With an eye on the 2022 Assembly Elections, the Yogi Adityanath government has presented the people’s Budget. Last year’s Budget, that was presented On February 7, 2019, was of Rs 4.79 lakh crore. Khanna introduced various schemes worth Rs 10,000 crore. Schemes for improving tourism facilities in Ayodhya have been allotted Rs 85 crore. Chief Minister’s constituency Gorakhpur has been allocated Rs 25 crore to develop water sports facility at ‘Ramgarh Taal’. World famous Kashi Vishwanath temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas according to the Hindu mythology, has been allotted Rs 200 crore.

At a time when the Opposition has slammed the Yogi government for not doing enough for women, the Uttar Pradesh Budget has launched news schemes for the fairer sex. The budget has allocated Rs 1,432 crore for special pension scheme for destitute women. To infuse more funds in infrastructural projects, the UP Budget has allotted Rs 3,524 crore for developing all state highways. Kanpur Metro Rail Service has been allocated Rs 358 crore in the UP Budget. Rs 2,000 crore have been allotted for the ambitious and much-delayed Jewar Airport project.
"A target of constructing 4 lakh houses for weaker sections has been fixed by March 2021. Metro rail service is available in Lucknow, Ghaziabad and Noida. Work of Regional Rapid Transit System from Delhi to Meerut is in progress. An arrangement of Rs 900 crore made for it," Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said in his budget speech. An arrangement of Rs 358 crore is proposed for Kanpur Metro Rail Project and Rs 286 crore proposed for Agra Metro Rail Project. Besides, there are proposals for Metro Rail projects in Gorakhpur and other cities and an arrangement of Rs 200 crore is proposed for the purpose. An arrangement of Rs 50 crore proposed for setting up Rashtriya Prerna Sthal in Lucknow, he said.
In the budget, a provision of Rs 2,000 crore has been made for about 637 km long 'Ganga Expressway' from Meerut to Prayagraj, which will be the longest expressway of the country and Rs 2,000 crore for 'Noida International Greenfield Airport' at Jewar in Gautambuddh Nagar (Noida). The budget has also earmarked Rs 500 crore for Ayodhya Airport and Rs 92.5 crore for airports under the Regional Connectivity Scheme.
