It seems like the opposition leadership in India’s largest state has surrendered to their fate which reflects in the just concluded Civic elections in Uttar Pradesh.

The principal opposition i.e. the Samajwadi Party and the Congress either did not put up a fight or kept it at a low key.

Whereas BJP has swept the Mayoral elections by winning 14 out of 16, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has been successful in securing the remaining two.

In the event of such stupendous electoral win, BJP National Spokesperson and Supreme Court lawyer Gaurav Bhatia shares his thoughts in an exclusive chat with NewsNation.In.

Q. BJP defeated the Congress in Amethi Nagar in the Panchayat elections which is the Bastion of Congress VP Rahul Gandhi. To what factors would you attribute this humongous electoral win in the Civic polls?

This win is the result of the dynamic and inspiring leadership of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah coupled with the able team effort of CM Yogi Adityanath. This is a victory of the people and also a befitting reply to those who question Narendra Modi’s vision regarding development and the tough decisions he has taken for the good of the country like GST and demonetization.

Losing Amethi Nagar by the Congress is a testimony that people of India and Uttar Pradesh (UP) have no faith in the Congress or in the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.

Q. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has been engaged in an aggressive campaign for the upcoming Gujarat elections. How do you see this and what are the chances of BJP?

Rahul Gandhi has been busy visiting temples and avoided any discussions on development in Gujarat, this only shows the nervousness in the Congress camp. What is the need to visit 30 temples in 45 days? The BJP’s record in the last 22 years in Gujarat only shows that people have reposed their faith in our leadership.
