As voting for fourth phase in Uttar Pradesh started on Thursday, there were clashes between Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party supporters in Mahoba. During the clash four people got injured including Samajwadi Party candidate Siddhgopal Sahu's son.
Voting for the fourth phase of Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh has started on 53 constituencies which spread over 12 districts including the Bundelkhand region.
During the fourth phase, there are 680 candidates, including 61 women. The constituency with most candidates is Allahabad North (26) and the constituencies with the least number of nominees are Khaga and Kunda (six each).
The fate of 680 candidates will be decided by 1.84 crore voters including 84 lakh women and 1,032 of third gender.
The maximum number of 26 candidates are in Allahabad North, while only six candidates are in fray in Khaga (Fatehpur), Manjhanpur (Kaushambi) and Kunda (Pratapgarh).
In 2012 polls, out of the 53 seats in this phase, Samajwadi Party had won 24, BJP 5, Bahujan Samaj Party 15, Congress 6 and ‘others’ 3.
