The Income Tax department on Wednesday conducted raids at locations of senior IAS and PCS officers in Uttar Pradesh. The raids have been conducted since early morning in six cities of more than 15 locations in Ghaziabad, Meerut, Noida, Mainpuri, Delhi and Lucknow.
The officers against whom the action was being taken wereIAS officer and Director (Health) Hriday Shankar Tewari, IASofficer and Additional CEO of Greater Noida Authority V KSharma and his wife and Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Mamta Sharma, and special secretary (prisons) S K Singh. The I-T officials said the department had been investigating charges of tax evasion against them.
Earlier, Sharma was posted as Ghaziabad district magistrate while Hari Nath Tiwari was serving as former Baghpat District Magistrate. The department had carried out similar raids against some other UP bureaucrats last month.
