Uttar Pradesh Minister for Religious Endowment Vijay Kumar Mishra joined Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Thursday, alleging that the ruling Samajwadi Party was 'anti-Brahmin'.

"SP is anti-Brahmin. Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is surrounded by sycophants," he said while joining BSP in the presence of its national general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra.

Mishra had won the 2012 Assembly polls from Ghazipur seat but was denied SP ticket this time.

SP has fielded Rajesh Khushwaha from the seat. Ghazipur will go to polls in the last of the seven-phase election on March 8. Nomination process for the last phase ended today. Mishra later announced that he has submitted his resignation from the Akhilesh Yadav's cabinet.
