A woman, who witnessed her husband's killing earlier this year, has sought police protection alleging that she was receiving threats from the accused who want her to withdraw the case against them in Uttar Pradesh.
Before her husband's murder, the same group of persons had killed her 11-year-old son, she told the district authorities here. Anita, 45, met the district magistrate in Shamli and sought police protection, an official source said.
According to the official, Anita and her husband Nakul had accused a man of killing their 11-year-old son in 2013. Pressure was put on Nakul, who had witnessed the killing, to withdraw the complaint.

According to the woman, since Nakul did not give in to the pressure, he was was killed in February this year, a police official said.
Anita claimed she had witnessed her husband's murder, and was getting threats from the accused who want her to withdraw the case, a police official said.
The woman's plea has reached the district authorities at a time when the issue of law and order has occupied the centrestage in Uttar Pradesh. The opposition has been attacking the BJP government on the issue, while Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has promised a crackdown on criminals in the state.
