New Delhi:

The new United States Ambassador to India Kenneth Juster during his inaugural speech on Thursday laid emphasis on economic and commercial relations between the two countries and said, “America First and Make in India are not incompatible.”

The new US ambassador during his first policy speech added that investing in each other's markets will be mutually beneficial for both the countries.

Juster added, “It is time to put a strategic lens on our economic relationship – just as we have done with our defense relationship.”

He added, “India can seize the strategic opportunity – through trade and investment – to become an alternative hub for U.S. business in the Indo-Pacific region.”

The US ambassador further emphasised on several benefits of growing bilateral economic relationship and India as regional business hub for US.

Juster further added, “A number of U.S. companies have reported increasing difficulties conducting business in the largest market in the region – China. India can become an alternative hub for U.S. business in the Indo-Pacific region.”

The ambassador for White House added, “There is still a plenty of room to expand the flow of goods and services in both directions and, in the process, for trade to become more reciprocal.”

During this inaugural policy speech also talked about terrorism but did not mention Pakistan.

Juster mentioned that both US and India have suffered horrific terrorist attacks and continue to be. “President Donald Trump and other US leaders have been clear that we will not tolerate cross-border terrorism.”
