In another incident of ‘saffronisation’ in India, a statue of Mahatma Gandhi was coloured saffron in Ghanshyampur of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
The incident took place in Ghanshyampur, which comes under Banda police area in Shahjahanpur district on Thursday.
"We noticed the change this morning. This is ridiculous," said Sarvesh Kumar, a villager, as quoted by a leading media organisation.
The statue was apparently established around 20 years ago.
"Only the stick and the spectacles of the statue were black. The clothes were white and the body colour was off-white. But now, the entire statue has been painted saffron," Kumar added.

Meanwhile, Congress has said that it will protest against this ridiculous incident and alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was behind it.
"We are investigating the matter, proper action will be taken," additional DM Bachchu Singh told the ANI.
