A 55-year-old resident of Sisaiya village on Wednesday collapsed and died while standing in a queue to withdraw cash from his bank account here, his family claimed.

Sub Divisional Magistrate, Dhaurahra, Alok Kumar Verma while confirming the death of Mehadi Hasan, said his body has been sent for postmortem.

According to Hasan’s family members, he was visiting Allahabad UP Gramin Bank’s Sisaiya branch daily for a week to withdraw cash from his account.

On Wednesday also he went to the bank early morning and before he could withdraw money, he fell on the ground and passed away, they said.

Later, Dhaurahra BSP legislator Shamsher Bahadur Singh visited the bank on getting information about Hasan’s death.

Blaming Narendra Modi government for the death following demonetisation, the legislator demanded compensation for the family of Hasan.
