Uttar Pradesh man ties wife to fan, beat her to demand dowry in Shahjahanpur

A man in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur tied his wife to a ceiling fan, brutally beat her with belt, filmed the entire incident and forwarded it to his in-laws threatening dire consequences if his dowry demands are not met.

According to police, in an FIR lodged by the woman, the victim has complained that she was tied to a fan and beaten with a leather belt after she denied asking her parents dowry.

“He was beat me till I felt unconscious. He was demanding for Rs 50,000,” the victim told the police.

Shahjahanpur Police has registered an FIR under relevant IPC sections and Dowry Prohibition Act against the victim’s husband and four other people of his of his family.

“We are investigating the matter and efforts are being made to nab the accused husband,” a police officer deployed at Shahjahanpur said.

Till the time report, police had not arrested the main accused and the family is absconding.
