New Delhi:

Kunwar Pranav Singh 'Champion’, a Bharatiya Janta Party MLA from Uttarakhand’s Khanpur, who accused his own party of shielding corrupt, has been served a show cause notice by the BJP.

‘Champion’, went public against the ruling Trivendra Singh Rawat government accusing the Chief Minister of shielding the corrupt despite "flaunting" its policy of zero tolerance to corruption.

According to the party sources, Singh was unhappy with a “corrupt” official in an investigating panel in Haridwar region.

Singh alleged that the corrupt official was put on the panel at the behest of state Urban Development minister Madan Kaushik.

He first complained it to state chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat but when no action was taken, he approached BJP president Amit Shah.

However, the move to seek Amit Shah’s intervention backfired and a show cause notice has been served to him.

"Prima facie, the video footage and newspaper clippings of the MLA's public outburst against the party fall into the category of breach of discipline. If a satisfactory explanation from him does not come within ten days, appropriate disciplinary action will be initiated against him," state president Ajay Bhatt

Interestingly, ‘Champion’ is a Congress rebel who had tried to topple Harish Rawat government in 2016. Later, he joined the BJP and contested the election on party’s seat.
