V Narayanasamy set to be next chief minister of Puducherry

Former Union Minister of State V Narayanasamy has been unanimously elected as Congress Legislature Party leader and set to become next Chief Minister of Puducherry. Former Delhi Chief Minister Shelia Dikshit and AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik who had been deputed as observers by the Congress leadership announced V Narayanasamy’s name after consulting with newly elected MLAs.

The veteran Congress leader said the decision was unanimously endorsed by all the MLAs, Pradesh Congress Committee president A Namassivayam and seconded by former Chief Minister V Vaithilingam.

After the news broke out that Narayanasamy has been elected as the new Chief Minister, supporters of Namassivayam raised slogans against the decision.

 Over 10 buses were reportedly attacked on East Coast Road from Puducherry to Chennai, leaving many stranded. Police resort to lathicharge. Several, including a news photographer, was injured.
