Veteran Congress leader and former Rajasthan minister Ratan Lal Tambi died at SMS Hospital in Jaipur on Friday night after prolonged illness, a party spokesperson said on Saturday. Tambi wad 84-year-old. The funeral of the Congress leader was conducted in Jahazpur in Bhilwara district, the spokesperson said.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, Assembly Speaker CP Joshi, Health Minister Raghu Sharma and other leaders paid tributes to Tambi. In his condolence message, Gehlot said Tambi's passing away was an irreparable loss for the Congress.

Deputy CM Sachin Pilot said that the death of Tambe was deeply painful. "The demise of former minister and senior Congress leader Ratan Lal Tambi is deeply painful. The State Congress is standing with his family members in this difficult time. May God grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this loss," Pilot wrote on Twitter.
