Veteran journalist J N Sadhu passed away, aged 94, in Shimla on Saturday evening after prolonged illness.
Sadhu was not well for the past one year and had stop eating for the last few days, family sources said.
The veteran journalist had worked with The Indian Express for nearly 35 years. Post retirement, he had worked as a freelance journalist.
The Himachal unit of India Media Centre described the demise as a great loss to the state, saying an era of fearless journalism has come to an end with his death.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, former chief minister Shanta Kumar and a host of leaders condoled his death.
