VHP to Ghulam Nabi Azad: Don't try to woo Muslims for “vote bank” politics

Ghulam Nabi Azad

Attacking Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad for his remarks drawing a parallel between RSS and terror outfit ISIS, VHP today said the Congress leader has crossed all limits in his party’s bid to woo Muslims for its “vote bank” politics.

Azad has insulted Muslims “by questioning their patriotism”, VHP Joint General Secretary Surendra Jain said.

“...Do they think Muslims in the country sympathise with ISIS. They have insulted Muslims of the country with their statement. Congress President Sonia Gandhi should apologise to the nation and try to save her party from imminent decline by throwing Azad out of the Congress,” Jain said.

The Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Azad, kicked up a row yesterday after he sought to draw a parallel between RSS and terrorist outfit ISIS, evoking sharp responses from the Hindutva outfit and BJP.

“So, we oppose organisations like ISIS, the way we oppose RSS. If those among us in Islam too do wrong things, they are no way less than RSS,” Azad said at the National Solidarity Conference called by the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind at the Indira Gandhi stadium.
