Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu orders audit of Rajya Sabha TV

After discovering the government-owned channel Rajya Sabha TV (RSTV) has incurred an annual expenditure of Rs 60 crore, Vice-President of India Venkaiah Naidu sought a complete audit of the channel.

Naidu, who is the chairman of the Rajya Sabha (Upper House) has raised questions on certain issues including renting office space, hiring cabs and making of a feature film, according to the Economic Times.

Instead of buying its own space for office, the RSTV pay Rs 25 crore annually as rent to the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) for using Talkatora Stadium.

Moreover, the channel has no information related to details about its viewership.

The channel RSTV was founded in the year 2008, covering proceedings of the Upper House of Parliament.
