In an exemplar of sheer dictatorship, an elderly auto driver was purportedly badly thrashed for asking Tamil Nadu BJP chief Tamilisai Soundararajan about the rising fuel prices while she was interacting with reporters in Chennai on Sunday.
In the video shared by news agency ANI, the auto driver standing behind Soundararajan can be seen being thrashed by a BJP leader standing next to her after he said, "Amma, the centre is increasing fuel prices." The Tamil Nadu BJP president kept on smiling while the Khaki-clad auto driver was being brutally thrashed by her aide.

After the incident, the auto driver, identified as Kathir, narrated his ordeal and told media persons that the skyrocketing petrol prices were affecting them to make ends meet.
"I only expressed my anguish about how auto drivers are affected but they took it in a wrong sense. This is what happened. We need at least five hundred rupees for our food and other expenses every day. But with petrol prices going high, we get only three hundred and fifty rupees after paying the auto-rent," NDTV quoted him as saying.
The fuel prices have crossed all the limits with petrol touching Rs 85.31 per litre in Chennai, forcing people like Kathir to bear the brunt. In some parts of the country, the prices of petrol crossed Rs 90-mark on Monday.
