New Delhi:

National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, who has been camping in Kashmir since Tuesday, interacted, including children, and security personnel during a quick tour of Anantnag, an area which has been a hotbed of terrorist activities in the past, on Saturday. The NSA has instructed the security forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir to ensure that the common people are not harassed in any manner during the tight restrictions imposed in the wake of abrogation of the constitutional provisions that accorded special status to the state, the officials said.

In a video, Doval can be seen interacting with a shepherd in Anantnag. He is also seen talking to a child and other locals in another video.

On Friday, Doval met Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar. They emphasised on the importance of reaching out to people and helping them meet their daily needs, besides ensuring their safety and security, an official said.

Governor Malik also discussed the arrangements made by the administration to facilitate people for observance of Eid-ul-Azha with religious fervour and gaiety, he added.

The NSA, accompanied by his aides and senior police officers, visited the Eidgah locality and stopped at various places to interact with locals in Srinagar.

He later talked to police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and thanked them for their wonderful work in maintaining law and order. Doval went to Shopian in south Kashmir on Wednesday and talked to the locals.

He also interacted with the police and paramilitary personnel on the ground to keep their morale high.

Tensions between India and Pakistan spiralled after New Delhi revoked Article 370 to withdraw the special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the region into two Union Territories - Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh.

On Friday, the administration in Jammu and Kashmir had eased prohibitory orders to allow Friday prayers in local mosques and for people to make arrangements for Monday's Eid celebrations.

The administration has lifted prohibitory orders from Jammu region, and asked schools to reopen from Saturday.
