United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, who is on a three-day visit to India, on Thursday prepared food for the ‘langar’ (community kitchen) at Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi.

In a video tweeted by ANI, Haley, who was born as Nimrata Randhawa in South Carolina to an Indian American Sikh family from Punjab, was seen making chapatti (Indian flatbread). Wearing Indian Punjabi salwar suits, Haley visited the Sis Ganj Sahib Guruwara in Delhi.

During her first visit to India after becoming the US Ambassador to UN, Haley also visited the historic Jama Masjid (Mosque) in the national capital.

Upon her arrival in India on Wednesday, she said that the visit was more like a homecoming for her and was aimed at solidifying the “US love for India”.

“In this day and time, we see more and more reasons for India and the US to come together. I am here to once again solidify our love for India, our belief in the friendship India and the US have and our willingness to make that relationship even stronger,” she said.

Expressing her happiness to be back in India in the summer heat, the daughter of Sikh immigrants from Punjab said the heat was worth to be back in India.

“It makes my heart happy to be back in India, it is as beautiful as I remember it to be. It’s always good to be back home,” Haley said as she visited the majestic tomb of Mughal emperor Humayun in the national capital, accompanied by US ambassador to India Kenneth Juster.
