Demonetisation and the launch of new currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 2000 have been subjective to numerous chitchats and gossips since their introduction.
Right after the rumour of new 2000 notes being printed in radioactive ink, a new story is taking the social media by the storm which is quite shocking and fantastical too.
Gossips of 2000-rupee having iota of animal fat has been floating in social media. A rumoured message claims that new banknotes of Rs 2000 has foul smell which hints of usage of animal fat.
The message claims that use of animal fat increases the life of bank note and makes it shine. Also there were rumours that animal fat gets washed away in the washing machine too.
These rumours got fueled by a recent report that the Bank of England's new £5 note has animal fat in it has led to an online petition by vegans demanding its withdrawal there.
However after a probe in which News Nation tested the notes by washing them in washing machines nothing of such sort surfaced.
In view of malicious rumours on demonetisation doing the rounds on social media that’s creating confusion in the minds of the public, News Nation dismisses these rumours.
