Lashing out at those who preferred to record a video of a woman being raped in broad day light in Vishakapatnam rather than rescuing her, Union minister Maneka Gandhi has called them “thrill-seekers” and “culpable”.
The destitute woman on Sunday was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old drunk man near a busy road in Vishakapatnam and the people remained just mute spectators.
Instead, some of the spectators even recorded the video of the entire incident on their phones.
Speaking over the issue to news agency PTI, Gandhi said, “Everybody here is culpable...the people who were thrill seekers preferring to let a woman suffer rather than help her. I am totally outraged by their behaviour...by the behaviour of the man who raped her and by the people who by doing nothing helped it happen.”

The accused Ganji Seva, who was booked for rape, has been arrested by the police.
A driver plying his autorickshaw on the road captured the incident on his mobile phone and called the police immediately.
According to police, the woman, aged around 40, had left her husband a month ago following a marital discord. She had been staying on the pavement for the past few days.
