Vivek Tiwari Murder: Government trying to hide something, claims Akhilesh Yadav

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday met the family members of murdered Apple executive Vivek Tiwari at their residence in Lucknow. Akhilesh stayed with the family for about 35 minutes and heard their ordeal after the killing of Vivek.

After meeting the family, Yadav claimed that the Yogi Adityanath government was trying to hide certain facts related to the killing of the Apple executive allegedly by two UP police constables.

The former UP CM alleged that the police and the state government were hiding the circumstances under which Vivek was killed. He also accused cops of trying to confuse the line of investigation.

Yadav said that the state’s policy of "staged police encounters" under the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government, was responsible for the incident. The Samajwadi Party chief also demanded UP CM to announce a compensation of Rs 5 crore to the family.

Earlier on Sunday, the UP police had to file a fresh FIR in the case after public outrage. In the second FIR, Vivek’s wife Kalpana has named the two accused constables who shot her husband and narrated the sequence of the events more specifically.

Kalpana narrated the entire incident as told to her by Sana - the woman who was with Vivek during the fateful night. In the FIR, Kalpana’s wife said that Sana read the names of both the accused constables - Prashant Kumar and Sandeep Kumar – on their nameplates.

The UP police have dismissed both the accused constables from their services and constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the matter.
