Social media is often abuzz with various trends online and the latest one is popping up with the hashtag #SareerTwitter where women from different walks of life have been sharing stunning images of themselves draped in sarees. While a number of Bollywood biggies and politicians had earlier joined the fun, former Union minister Maneka Gandhi too probably became the part of the bandwagon today.
Though Gandhi's tweet did not feature the hashtag #SareerTwitter, it shows an old picture of her from her son Varun Gandhi and daughter-in-law Yamini Roy's wedding in Benaras. Whether or not it was a part of the #SareeTwitter challenge, the picture stands out from the crowd owing to the mention that the BJP Lok Sabha MP was wearing a 70-year-old cotton sari woven by Pt Nehru in jail.
In her throwback post, Gandhi also remembered her mother-in-law Indira Gandhi, adding that her daughter-in-law Yamini was wearing an antique saree which was given to her by the former prime minister on her wedding day.

"The cotton saree that I'm wearing was woven by Pt Nehru in jail and is now over 70 years old. I wore it on my son’s wedding in Benares. My daughter-in-law Yamini is wearing an antique saree which was given to me by my mother-in-law on my wedding day," the tweet read.
However, the same had been deleted some 2 hours after being posted.
Politicians who joined the #SareeTwitter challenge include - AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi and Congress politician from Assam Gaurav Gogoi among others.
