At least two people were killed and several other were feared trapped in a fire at government hospital in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district on Saturday.
Panic prevailed in the hospital as people ran helter-skelter leading to a near stampede.
"A fire broke out in the hospital. Two causalities were reported. Fire has been brought under control. There is no need for panic", Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) S Saha said.
West Bengal CM Mamata banerjee has announced Rs.2 lakh compensation for next of kin of those who lost their lives.
He said an AC unit was the source of the fire.
