A Maoist ambush attack on security forces in the forest area near Khamankhol in Kandhamal district in Odisha has left at least one Special Operation Group (SOG) jawan dead and 10 others injured.
The attack comes barely six weeks after a deadly attack on CRPF party in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, in which at least 25 jawans had lost their lives.
Ever since the Sukma attack, the Union home ministry has taken several steps to wipe out Maoists from the jungles of Chhattisgarh, Odisha and other states affected by the violence.
Special Operation Group is a special task force designed to fight Naxal menace in Odisha.
