BJP leader Shazia Ilmi, who was in Seoul for United Peace Federation conference as part of Global Citizen Forum delegation, confronted Pakistan supporters raising anti-India slogans. “It is imperative to peacefully register protest if insulted as an Indian”, she said.

“I and two others were in Seoul for United Peace Federation conference as a delegation of Global Citizen Forum. After the conference, we went to Indian Embassy to meet our envoy”, ANI quoted Shazia Ilmi as saying.

In what she describes as ‘an aggressive protest’, the Pakistani supporters, who were carrying Pakistani flags, called all sorts of names to India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Shazia Ilmi, they were raising ‘Modi terrorist’, ‘India terrorist’ slogans.

Shazia went to the protesting Pakistani supporters saying, “You have problem with abrogation of Article 370, which is totally an internal matter, and has nothing to do with you all.” After Pakistani supporters did not stop, Shazia countered them with, "India Jindabad' slogans. The local police intervened and escorted Shazia Ilmi and her associates from the location.

“They kept saying Modi terrorist, India terrorist. We just felt it's our duty to tell them to not abuse our country or our PM”, Shazia told ANI.

The development comes in the backdrop of India’s decision to abrogate Article 370, 35A in Jammu and Kashmir and separate Ladakh from it.

Earlier, Pak PM Imran Khan had accused the world fraternity of "silently witnessing another Srebrenica-type massacre & ethnic cleansing of Muslims in IOK". Imran added, “I want to warn international community if it allows this to happen, it will have severe repercussions & reactions in the Muslim world setting off radicalisation & cycles of violence."

On August 5, India scrapped Article 370 of the Constitution which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The resolution was passed in the Lok Sabha by division of votes with 351 members in support and 72 against it. One member abstained from voting. The House also cleared the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019, by 370 "AYES" and 70 "NO".
