Epitomising the tenets of Gandhism, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, his mother Sonia Gandhi and other top party leaders on Tuesday washed their own plates after lunch at Sevagram ashram in Wardha district on Maharashtra.
On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, the Congress party had held the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting at the Sevagram ashram, where Gandhi had spent his last few years.

In a video shared by news agency ANI, the Congress president, his mother and several other party leaders are seen scrubbing their plates. Rahul Gandhi also planted a sapling in the ashram right next to a tree planted by his father Rajiv Gandhi.

Earlier, the Congress party held a special prayer meeting to pay homage to the ‘Father of the Nation’ on his 150th birth anniversary. Former prime minister Manmohan Singh, senior Congress leaders Ashok Gehlot, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mallikarjun Kharge were also present during the prayer meeting.
