Watch: Truth behind Ashok Gehlot’s viral ‘paani- bijli’ comment

Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot came across the “troll army” for saying what he actually didn’t say. The Congress national general secretary was trolled on Twitter for comments he made on building dams during a press conference.

People were trending #ScientistGehlot by sharing an edited video clip in which the Congress leader can be heard saying, “They are building a dam through which they’ll generate electricity. Current will be generated out of the water and after that, the same water will go to the farms. When there will be no current in the water, it will not be useful for irrigation.”

However, when Gehlot saw people trolling him for “illogical” comments which were reportedly made by Jan Sangh to bother then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, he came out with the original video clip in which he can be heard in it its entirety.

In the above clip, Gehlot was referring to then Jan Sangh leader Mani Ram Bagri’s comment (in the 1960s) when he said, “Electricity has been taken out of Bhakra Nangal dam water, how wheat will be irrigated now?”

The comments are also a famous dialogue from a hit Bollywood movie Shool where Sayaji Shinde reiterates the same ‘fact’ to stop the construction of a dam.
