New DGP Sulkhan Singh takes charge: 'Vigilantism in name of Gau raksha to be punished, zero tolerance for 'gundagardi' in UP'

Uttar Pradesh's new DGP Sulkhan Singh took charge on Saturday. During his first press conference Singh made it clear that there will no room for lawlessness in the state from now on.

Yogi Adityanath government on Friday replaced Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Javeed Ahmed with Sulkhan Singh. Sulkhan Singh will be new DGP of UP.

Bhavesh Singh has been appointed as ADG, Intelligence. Aditya Mishra has been made ADG, Law & Order.

The UP government has also announced IPS transfer list in the state. Alok Prasad has been appointed as DGP, Homeguards.

The list also included the names of Dr Surya Kumar, Jawahar Lal Tripathi, Vijay Kumar, Daljit Singh, Alok Singh, Sanjay Singhal and Navneet Sikera.

Highlights of Sulkhan Singh's press brief: 

#Will not disclose complainant's name in such a case, but won't allow anyone to indulge in forceful behaviour: UP DGP Sulkhan Singh

#Action will be taken on anyone indulging in vigilantism in the name of Gau Raksha or anything else, no one has the right to intervene: UP DGP

#The personnel on duty for anti-romeo squads will act and take action only on people with objectionable behavior: UP DGP Sulkhan Singh

#Personnel will be in plain clothes, this does not include questioning ppl. Will be clarified in standing orders: UP DGP on anti-Romeo squads

#Any 'gundagardi' will be acted upon, Uttar Pradesh police will work with total impartiality: UP DGP Sulkhan Singh

#Anybody indulging in criminal activities wil not be spared, whether from ruling party or not, we have strict orders from UP CM: UP DGP

#Sulkhan Singh addresses the media after taking charge as the new DGP of UP
