New Delhi:

Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who was at the Bhubaneswar airport, on the way to attend a rally in the Odisha capital called on a photographer who tripped and fell off a divider at the airport while trying to get a shot. The Congress chief quickly ran down the steps to help the photographer. Rahul Gandhi is in the Odia state capital to address a public meeting at the Tamando Mini Stadium on the city outskirts.

Although Rahul Gandhi likes to maintain a low profile when it comes to acts of kindness, his humanitarian side is not unknown to people. Let’s us go back to the time when the Congress president had helped Nirbhaya’s younger brother to become a pilot. Apart from sponsoring the young man’s higher education, regular motivational calls from Rahul Gandhi helped him to achieve what he wanted.

The Congress president kickstarted the party's poll campaign in Odisha on Friday. His visit comes close on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's back-to-back visits to the state. The visit is crucial for uniting the party cadre in the state where several senior leaders including two MLAs quit the party recently, a party leader said. Assembly election would be held along with Lok Sabha polls in Odisha soon.

Besides addressing the rally, christened as 'Parivartan Sankalp Samavesh' at Tamando Stadium on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, the Congress chief is slated to meet intellectuals during his day-long visit here, party sources said. He will also meet employees of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).

"There is a lot of enthusiasm among party workers ahead of Rahulji's visit to the state. His visit will certainly motivate them ahead of the elections," Congress' Odisha in-charge Jitendra Singh had told reporters on Thursday.
