WB Facebook post row: BJP prez Amit Shah constitutes team over communal clashes in North 24 Parganas

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Thursday constituted a delegation which would submit a report to him over communal clashes that took place in North 24 Parganas. The team will also visit the affected area.

A team comprising BJP leaders Om Mathur, Meenakshi Lekhi, Satyapal Singh and Kailash Vijayvargiya will visit North 24 Parganas. Communal clashes broke out over an ‘objectionable’ post on Facebook.

Senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya was stopped by police when they went to meet the families’ members of deceased. Later, Vijavargiya slammed Mamata government, saying that there is no democracy in Bengal and chief minister Mamata Banerjee should resign from her post.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had spoken to west Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi.

The violence between the two communities at Baduria under Basirhat sub-division in the district started last night over the post following which a young man was arrested, the police had informed.

In an unprecedented move, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had accused Tripathi of "threatening" her over phone and talking "big on the law and order".
