After releasing the videos of the Indian Army’s surgical strike against terrorists in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Lt Gen (retd) DS Hooda who was the Northern Army Commander during the mission said we can definitely send another strong message to Pakistan if we want to.
“Decision finally came from political leadership but military was in agreement that we needed to do something. If we want to send another strong response to Pak in the future we can definitely do it again,” Hooda said.
Several news channels on Wednesday ran the video clips of Army’s surgical strike against Pakistan in September 2016, which showed how terrorists were killed and their launch pads and bankers were destroyed.
Channels airing the videos, after almost 21 months the surgical strikes were carried out by the Indian Army, claimed that they were provided to them by official sources and were taken from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Thermal Imaging (TI) cameras.
“The videos are real. I can confirm that,” the Indian Express quoted Lt General DS Hooda (retd), who was in-charge of the surgical strikes, as saying.
“When the surgical strikes happened, my view was that the videos should have been released as proof. It is good that they have come out now,” Hooda added.
Meanwhile, BSP Chief Mayawati alleged the release of surgical strike video as Centre’s attempt to distract people from their enormous failures before 2019.
“Releasing video of #SurgicalStrike is nothing but an attempt by this Govt to distract people from their enormous failures before 2019. If they did it with intention of showing proof, then why did they not release video when strike was carried out?” Mayawati said.
