Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit, on Sunday, called upon international community ‘to ensure implementation of the relevant UN resolutions to settle the long-standing Jammu & Kashmir dispute’.
Speaking at the celebrations of the 70th Independence Day in Pakistani High Commission in Delhi, Basit said that he dedicates the ‘Jash-e-Azadi’ to freedom struggle of Kashmiris.
“The High Commissioner stressed that the political aspiration of the people of Jammu and Kashmir could not be suppressed, nor could anyone belittle or wish away their legitimate struggle and enormous sacrifices. It was incumbent upon the international community to ensure implementation of the relevant UN resolutions to settle the long-standing Jammu & Kashmir dispute,” said the official press statement from the commission.
According to press brief, the High Commissioner said, “Pakistan will continue extending its full diplomatic, political and moral support to the valiant people of Jammu & Kashmir till they get their right to self-determination.”
On Pakistan and India relations, Basit said that Pakistan had always desired and endeavoured to have cooperative relations with India on the basis of sovereign equality and peaceful resolution of the bilateral disputes.
