Incessant rains have brought normal life to standstill killing more than 40 people in the last six days in Bihar. Amid rains wreaking havoc in the state, CM Nitish Kumar faced protests in Patna on Tuesday evening after he went to take stock of the flood situation. Nitish Kumar, who lost cool at reporters said, "I am asking in how many parts of the country there have been floods. Is water in some parts of Patna, the only problem we have? What happened in America?"

Heavy rains have thrown normal life out of gear affecting rail traffic, healthcare facilities and schools in the state. Streets of capital Patna are flooded with water and National Disaster Response Force have been deployed to conduct rescue operations in the city. However, relief and rescue operations are in full swing in Bihar, and waters are being pumped out on a war footing.

Moreover, the Congress has alleged that apathy of the JD(U)-BJP government in Bihar has led to floods in many parts of the state, including capital Patna, and claimed the deluge was “man-made”.

“Due to corruption and lack of supervision, water is now entering the town as the pipeline has not been aligned properly, resulting in the city getting flooded,” Congress spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil said.

Earlier, a video of Katihar MP and JD(U) leader Dulal Chandra Goswami went in which he can be seen adding insult to the injury of flood-hit people who approached him seeking help. The MP who had gone to take stock of the situation in his region, in response to man who asked for relief, said “Let me become MP for five times, then the work will start.”
