With crossed fingers, Samajwadi Party-Congress activists perform hawan ahead of poll results

After all exit polls signaling a possible comeback of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh, with crossed fingers, Samajwadi party and Congress party workers performed hawan on Friday to yield winning figures in the tally ahead of poll results.

As all exit polls have predicted a thumping majority or close to magic numbers for BJP, nerves have started taking a toll on the ruling party as Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav signalled that they are ready to join hands with Bahujan Samaj Party.

Akhilesh had said on Thursday that all secular forces should unite to stop BJP. Senior Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal rejected to draw any conclusion before counting, clarifying that Akhilesh had said that the latter would not allow running with remote control and they would do take every possible step to deter BJP. Agarwal said anyone can derive his own interpretation of the statement.
