A woman was beheaded allegedly by her husband, who suspected her of having an extra-marital affair at Khunta area in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, said a senior police officer on Thursday.

The 35-year old woman had her head chopped off with a sharp weapon allegedly by her husband Jitu Lohar (43) of Girishchandrapur village late last night following an altercation, the officer said.

The couple, who had three children, had strained relationships for a long time over the alleged extramarital relationship between the woman and a man of the same village, the officer said quoting neighbours.
