In yet another case of criminal negligence by doctors and staff of a government hospital, a woman was forced to give birth to her baby in the corridors of the hospital, reported NDTV. According to the report, the incident happened on Sunday after the woman was told by the staff of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Farrukhabad that there were no beds available to admit her after the delivery.

The matter came to light after an onlooker shot the video on mobile phone and shared it with the local journalists. The video reportedly shows the mother, with her newly born baby, lying on the floor in the corridor. Reports suggest that the woman was taken to the hospital's labour room after she gave birth to her baby.

District Magistrate of Farrukhabad has now ordered a probe into the matter.

"I have taken suo motu cognizance and ordered an enquiry. We will try and ascertain the truth behind the incident. If anyone is found guilty of negligence, we will take strict action... we take cognizance of all incidents and if in this latest one, there is any negligence, we will take action," District Magistrate Monika Rani was quoted as saying by NDTV.

This is the same hospital which was in news in 2017 after forty-nine infants died in a month - most of them from ‘perinatal asphyxia’, a condition in which the child cannot breathe properly.

The hospital had recorded 49 deaths - 30 in neo-natal ICU and 19 during delivery - between July 20 and August 21 in 2017.
