A 30-year-old woman and her two-year-old son were burnt alive when the car they were sitting in caught fire in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area on Friday evening.

The car was parked in the B-block of Samudhur apartment complex when the fire started. The woman, identified as Neha Verma, was burnt alive along with her son, Param.

Sources said that Neha returned from shopping along with her son and was parking the car in the apartment complex when the incident happened. As soon as the fire started growing, the watchman of the complex tried to control the leap of fire along with other residents.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot at an early but the mother and son had been burnt by then. Bengaluru police have filed FIR and started the investigation of the fire. The police suspect short circuit as the reason behind the fire.

Sources said that Neha was living in the apartment since four years, along with her husband Rajesh Kumar and son, Param.
